In so many ways Deacon Dennis was a large part of the glue that held Our Lady of the Hills together. From the early days - without a church building - through today, Dennis was always a big part of our faith community.
Our families like so many families in the parish was not shy about speaking with Deacon Dennis. His insight and caring for the people of God was a wonderful gift.
Each of us have our own unique story of how Deacon Dennis and his family were there for us. Many of these personal stories often involved a sacrifice on Deacon Dennis part!
Some additional Deacon Dennis Ministries you might not be aware of: Assisting then Fr Droze with the first Spanish Masses at OLOH, starting a Grief Counseling Ministry that also included future life planning now that you lost a loved one, assisting in Diaconate Formation for as sponsor, early involvement in the Cursillo movement within the state and our parish. Plus, many more individual lives that God called Deacon Dennis to assist.
Deacon Dennis always wanted what was best for our parish & he was never shy about asking! What a wonderful role model Deacon Dennis was!

Deacon Dennis Jones was born in St. Petersburg, Florida October 15, 1946. He grew up in North Charleston, SC and attended Bishop England High School.
Dennis joined the Knights of Columbus in May of 1971 at council #724. He was awarded several Knights of the Quarter awards and received the first Bishop John England Award. He worked many events and helped rise over $6,000 for the St. Thomas More at USC. He headed the first Tootsie Roll drive in 1978 and has been a coordinator for our council and for three local councils during the 1980’s.
Dennis was a Guard and Chancellor for the 3rd degree and editor of the newsletter. He was a charter member of council #6847; served as Chancellor, Grand Knight, Advocate and Trustee for council #6892.
He joined Our Lady of the Hills in 1975 helping prepare the Jamil Temple before Mass before we had our own church. He served on the parish council, did nursing home visits, served as Lector and Minister of Communion.
Dennis earned a BA in History and Political Science at USC. He was a Financial Advisor, CLU and ChFC. He also served in the U.S. Army as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist, serving seven months in the Redstone Arsenal, the Sandia Base in New Mexico and two years in Germany. He later worked as a Financial Advisor for New York Life.
Dennis was an only child and has been married to Carolyn for Thirty-Nine years. Carolyn is from Pelion, SC. They have four children and one granddaughter.
Dennis enjoys cabinet making, electronics and the church ministry. He likes seeing men of faith working together and doing good for the Church and others, while having fun in the process.
Deacon was ordained a Deacon in August 15, 1985 and assists at Mass, Baptisms, Funerals and Visitations.” What a full and busy life.”

Algunos ministerios adicionales de Dennis Dennis que quizás no conozcas: ayudar al entonces padre Droze con las primeras misas en español en OLOH, comenzar un ministerio de asesoramiento en duelo que también incluía la planificación de la vida futura ahora que perdiste a un ser querido, ayudar en la formación del diaconado como patrocinador, participación temprana en el movimiento de Cursillo dentro del estado y nuestra parroquia. Además, muchas más vidas individuales a las que Dios llamó al diácono Dennis para ayudar.
El diácono Dennis siempre quiso lo mejor para nuestra parroquia y nunca tuvo reparos en pedirlo. ¡Qué maravilloso modelo a seguir fue el diácono Dennis!
